What We Do

Commercial Litigation

This is our firm's bread and butter. Commercial litigation can be complex and daunting, but we love this stuff. We are passionate about our clients, and we treat your legal issues as if they were our own. We do not do things because "that's the way it has always been done." Rather, we seek real results and carefully craft our litigation strategy around the best interest of our clients. We do not just sit back and engage in unnecessary litigation tactics. We go for the jugular. We want to win.

Our attorneys have vast experience successfully litigating for and against some of the largest companies in the world. We have represented clients in significant matters involving multi-million dollar disputes and complex issues. Our commercial litigation practice includes the following areas: Real estate; Business disputes; Contract disputes; Construction; Employment; Non-compete; Trade secrets; Fraud; Landlord Tenant; Eminent domain; Healthcare; Land use/zoning; Negligent security; Premises liability; 1983 claims; Product liability; and Wrongful death.

Insurance Coverage

Insurance policies may seem complicated and confusing. Some of the language in your insurance policy may also seem tricky. Unfortunately, in some instances, an insurance company may outright deny your claim without any reasonable basis. Perhaps you or your company are facing a serious lawsuit that is covered by insurance, but your insurance company still won't step up to the plate. Why did you pay for insurance if you can't use it? That is where we come in. Our firm represents individuals and companies whose insurance companies have unreasonably denied or delayed payment of valid claims or failed to defend them from lawsuits. When an insurance company acts in bad faith, our firm may also pursue a bad faith lawsuit against the insurance company.

Our insurance practice includes the following areas and insurance policies: Residential property; Commercial property; Commercial general liability; Directors and officers ("D&O"); Errors and omissions ("E&O"); Professional liability; Automobile; Trucking; Business interruption; Life; Health; Disability; Construction; Data/Privacy.

Corporate/Startup

This is one of our favorite areas of the law. Perhaps it is because we are business owners too, and we understand the many challenges and ups and downs of owning a business. Our firm takes pride in helping our clients navigate the challenges of owning and operating a company. We are passionate about our clients and their businesses, and we love to see them grow and prosper.  Whether you are just starting your first business or you have owned a company for 30 years, we can help. Since we know that startup companies would rather spend money on building their business and not fancy lawyers, we have created various cost-effective options depending on your needs. Through our General Counsel Program, we are available to assist your business on a monthly basis at a fixed cost that does not break the bank. Otherwise, we are available to assist on an as-needed basis including the following: Business formation; Partnership agreements; Shareholder agreements; Contract drafting/review; Purchase and sale agreements; Employment agreements; Non-compete agreements; Non-solicitation agreements; Leases; Real estate transactions; Sports and entertainment.

Real Estate Closing & Title Services

Our firm assists individuals, businesses, and developers with residential and commercial real estate transactions. We provide many services including: title and settlement services, title examination and insurance, buyer or seller legal representation, drafting and review of purchase and sale agreements, escrow services, drafting and review of deeds, and negotiation of contracts and financing terms. We also handle all types of real estate transactions, including financed deals, cash deals, leases, and refinances.

Unlike a typical title company, all title and closing work performed by Shapiro, P.A. is handled by an experienced and licensed attorney. Because of this, we are able to offer legal services for real estate transactions in addition to providing regular title and closing services. We also work tirelessly to ensure that your transaction is handled properly and efficiently.
